5 Reasons Why I Love Jennifer Lawrence

In my mind, Southern style goes way beyond pretty rooms and pretty stuff made and/or designed in this region of the country. It's also has to do with a certain quality of character, an ability to immediately make people feel at ease, a unique style of interacting with fellow human beings.

And this week the internet has been on fire with stories (including the Ann Friedman's article for New York magazine here) about how much America loves Kentucky native and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence's down-to-earth persona.

I love it too. Here are five reasons why:

—She has brilliant comic timing, as evidenced by this skit with North Carolina native  Zack Galifianakis on Funny or Die leading up to last Sunday's award show:

—She fell AT THE OSCARS (!) and she got back up and she laughed about it. George Clooney said later that "She's a Kentucky girl, she can handle it" or something to that effect. And Clooney knows a thing or two about the tenacity of Southern women, given that he hails from the bluegrass state, too.

—She's infused Dior's new campaign with her own feminine-meets-modern look and I can't wait to see her continue in her role as the face of the brand.

—She didn't mind that her entire family descended on her right after she won the award (below) and showed them off proudly:

—She knows how to wear clothes and not let them wear her. Proof: the stunner she wore to the Vanity Fair party after the show. Yep, the girl's got it.
